I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and always dreamed of becoming an astronaut. Our exposure to aerospace was rather limited, so I picked science as my second choice. I studied to become an Analytical Chemist and graduated from college in 1983. I worked for many years in mining research to pay off my student loans. Later I went into technical sales with a petrochemical company which I enjoyed very much.
Upon moving to the USA with my family, work opportunities were rather tough to get into in my field. I was introduced to Faux painting which was big in those days and I tried my hand doing murals which worked out very well for me. (I used to paint at home to relieve stress, who would have thought that would one day become my new career.)
As the faux era ended I naturally progressed to painting homes and offices. I quickly needed help as people could see the level of care and precision was what they were looking for at prices they could afford.
It’s been an exhilarating journey over the last 18 years since starting Spectrum America. I have undertaken some interesting projects that caused me to implement a lot of my chemical knowledge to help solve a myriad of problems.

When I am not at work I love to cruise with my wife and family. I also like to walk along the beach and enjoy the fresh air. Mystery books are my favorite read and seafood is my favorite food. I have 3 adorable grandchildren that remind me that work is not what life is about and we have to have some downtime, which I love to share with them.
